Re: Interim Management
A new manager coming in won't take long to work out what we need.
Antonio, Ings, scammaca.. Any 2 upfront
On the wings Bowen and Benrahma pushing forward
Soucek dropped
Either Lanzini, Fornals, Downes in his place, pushing the team 10 yards forward and playing further up the pitch
Coufal at right back
Paqueta given a licence to roam across the midfield, setting up attacks
Its not hard, take the pressure off the defense, go at teams rather than counter because quite simply we go a goal down and have no idea how to get back into the game, other than a set piece

The point is you have a leader, manager whatever.. e.g. Nolan

But you lead by consensus. This is about surviving. A new manager comes in and has to learn very quickly what's going on, Someone who is at the club already knows what the problems are but doesn't necessarily have the authority to fix it.

Carrick stepped up and did a similar thing with Man Utd and didnt lose a game If I remember. It's because he did the obvious shit.

This is an interim position to allow us to survive relegation. Not a long term appointment.

As for Nolan. As far as I understand he is a well liked person in football. He has always been a people person and knows how to get along with everyone. He was also captain of West Ham and Bolton. I cant think of anyone better in the setup currently to get players working together right now.

Just because you were managed by tyrants doesnt mean you are one. Sometimes it's quite the opposite. The ability to "manage up" is quite an underrated skill.

It'll be better than what we're getting now.

Re: Interim Management
And Nolan doesn’t seem like a bully, do you know anything about his career and what he was part of and who his mentor was?

LJC 12:29 Thu Apr 6
Re: Interim Management
You would let the team decide how to figure this out? Seriously, you would run a premiership club like that? What an absolutely stupid idea.

Re: Interim Management
The way out of this is to sack Moyes and let Nolan and the actual team itself figure out what to do. The players know more than anyone else what the problem is. The issue is that Moyes is a bully and would rather have command and fail than to take advice from anyone below him.
He is an arrogant bully.

Nolan doesnt seem like that at all. What you want is someone in charge that will facilitate communication amongst the players and get them all thinking the same way. More of a chair person than a boss right now.

People forget that all the players and staff have far more experience in this actual football industry than any of us here. They know what's going on and how it can be fixed on the pitch. It's because they are not allowed to express their own views by this bully of a man.

They will all be thinking why is Soucek playing? Why do I get taken off but Soucek stays yet they can see the stats and actually see what Soucek does. I've never heard anything. team member regularly praise that player as the key part to the team, yet he plays every game? Like wtf?

I bet you ask each player what 11 they would pick to get out of this mess and they would all come up with the same players. Just like when you're at school and you pick your team to play in the playground. You know who's the best.

It isnt rocket science. But it takes a special kind of idiot to destroy what would naturally just work. Enter David Moyes..

Re: Interim Management
When John Lyall got sacked in 1989, nobody was clamouring for a manager who had not coached a game since 1969.

The game has moved on considerably in the twenty years since Brooking's brief stint - which, coincidentally, was when the now-dinosaur Moyes was hot property in management terms: that's how long ago it was. The days of the casual, hands-off manager are long gone. Whether we like it or not, you have to be all over modern methods now (data, video analysis, specific drills, sports science etc).

It's fucking hard work and attention to detail. That's why Moyes struggles with it all.

Imagine Sir Trev with that after 20 years of long lunches and bureaucratic roles. Great bloke, but no.

We are a bang average team with a manger who has turned to shit, but the owners have pretty much said he stays even if we go down, so starting a thread about an imaginary dream team of Pearce, Noble and Brooking is laughable…..

Get a fucking grip, change your undies and accept the reality of the situation.

And yes its fucking dire……………..

Re: Interim Management
Trevor Brooking is almost 75 years old and last coached a game in 2003 - twenty years ago.

Fuck me. Some people...

Sydders, I will with the greatest of pleasure as I don't want to see us go down. But we got mullered last night and we still have Arsenal and Man City to play. What the fuck are they going to do to us?

Re: Interim Management
The reality is, no manager is better than what we have.
Moyes is literally BREAKING a group of players that would work on their own. He is stopping what they would do instinctively.

Any manager, and I literally mean ANY. Would keep us up. Doesn't matter who it is. No one could do worse than Moyes has given his resources. It's not possible.

If Moyes is allowed to take us down I think that would be a world record event. I cant think of any manager who has spent what he has spent has been allowed a full season to relegate a club. It's unheard of.

He will be the worst manager that ever existed in PL era or possibly before that. I hope the arrogant bastard reflects on the legacy he is creating.

isolated hammer 12:02 Thu Apr 6
Re: Interim Management
LJC, I agree with you to a degree, but the three of them combined would just give the squad the lift they need. They look beaten and have no direction or game plan from the off. Brooking would sort that out straight away. Paqeuta would be a different player Smammerca would want to play.

LJC 12:01 Thu Apr 6
Re: Interim Management
Why do we need proper West Ham men? What do you honestly think that would bring to a professional player? What we need is a manager who can organise a set off players that was improved by £200m in the summer.

LJC 11:57 Thu Apr 6
Re: Interim Management
Nobel has no managerial experience and Pearce was shit at it. Sir Trev is not exactly a manager either and I doubt the players have the respect or even know what he did that the fans do so that also a no.

There are good managers out there, why not just appoint one of those?

By the way, wouldn’t listen to this bloke:-

Re: Interim Management
Probably a first but I’m going to agree with Eerie on this.

Saying “We will be fine” is the sort of mentality that I think both the manager and players have got and it’s bordering on delusion.

We aren’t playing well and at times we look awful. The Brighton & Newcastle performances were a disgrace.

Many of us saw us go down with Cole, Carrick, Kanoute, Sinclair, Di Canio etc so let’s not get in the mindset of thinking this current lot are too good to go down.

You don't want to get "an octogenarian who retired from football nearly 40 years ago" but you're willing to give this Moyes cunt until the end of the season?

Do you realise how fucking ridiculous that sounds?
